Floral in the Winter

Coco Chanel barking at other people/ dogs, as usual.

Hello fabulous fashionist@s! ♥♥ CC here again, it’s not the new years yet but I definitely know what my resolution is, to stop ghosting you all. Seriously, whats up with me disappearing? Well, I’ve been working on various projects that I’ll be showing on here. But I’m glad to be back. For starters, if you’ve been following my instagram page, I introduced to you all Classic Californian’s newest furry addition, Coco Chanel. (If you haven’t been following my instagram page, @ClassicCalifornian , please do so! ) She’s a small toy Maltese but don’t let her small size fool you, Coco Chanel will fight you. She has the spirit of a lion and knows she’s fabulous. Her self confidence and the way she carries herself like a true lady is very remarkable for a small canine like herself. Coco loves getting pampered and small walks. Coco will be a regular so I thought I’d give her a small intro.

She’s looking for something to bark at.

Moving on this dress. It’s actually vintage from the 90’s. How I got it is an interesting story.  My friend and I were on a hunt to find vintage gems and came across this vintage second hand shop in LA called Jet Rag. I think we even went there by mistake. The store was HUGE and had every vintage dress you could ever dream of. The dresses are organized by decades ranging from 1920’s to the present. There are also lots of accessories, vintage jeans, and hand bags. This usually isn’t my scene but I had to give it a go. I scourged the 1990’s section and found so many wonderful dresses true to the decade. But I fell in love with this lavender retro looking dress.

Coco loves sitting in purses.

Another side story to add, these earrings are actually vintage from the 90’s as well. They’re something my mom passed down to me. I’d say that they’re really classy.

I honestly don’t care that it’s fall and that these “aren’t seasonal appropriate colors” like if those rules exist. For one, Coco Chanel (the most iconic fashion designer, like ever) once said “don’t dress for the weather”. And two, it’s LA here and we always have sunshine. Seasons don’t exist here, it can be December and be like over 72 degrees.  How I love SoCal.

Surprised we captured her not barking.

Speaking of the seasons, I’ll be posting some holiday looks for you all cause I know we may have some holiday parties to attend. If you’d like too see a certain style or trend but not really sure if you want to try it out? Tell me in the comments section and I’ll try it out for you!! (if I agree with it)

Bringing Back The Overalls

Hello fabulous fashionist@!♥ I was going through my closet and found this overall dress. Once again (the last time in a long time) will I be blogging about 90’s inspired fashion. I went through a phase where my style was inspired by the 90’s as you have seen.

As the Southern California heat is soon coming to an end, let’s soak up these final days of hot sunshine.

I might cut this dress up and wear it to Coachella.

Back in Black

Hello Fabulous Fashionist@!♥ I know lame title, but not so lame? These heeled boots I bought recently. They’re so versatile, you can call them classic but for today’s look I’m keeping it all black. This look is somewhat inspired by Blake Lively with the big hat and all.

This look was nice for a sunny day out. And once it starts to cool down I can wear these boots with my favorite pair of jeans for a casual sexy date look.

Seriously, heeled boots should be a closet staple. If you need inspiration for wearing these just look at how celebrities dress them up.

Cool in Hot Pink

Hello Fabulous Fashionist@! Classic Cal gal here again. The temperatures are definitely rising here in Southern California. But what other way to stay cool than in a slip dress? And even cooler with a black faux leather jacket. The 90’s wave of slip dresses have made a huge comeback. I remember the earliest I ever saw  a slip dress was in the 90’s in a Vogue magazine campaign worn by the one and only Kate Moss.

But, I am not trying to channel the 90’s here. I am giving this slip dress an edgy vibe with this faux leather jacket (not actually to be worn of course), pairing it with my favorite nude sandal heels. These heels are so versatile and go with anything.

Stay cool, see you next week!

Hello fabulous fashionist@!♥ The fall season is right around the corner, I can almost taste the pumpkin spice lattes. But here in So Cal that doesn’t always necessarily mean to bulk up with scarfs and jackets. In the meantime, I’m keepin’ it cool with an off-the shoulder dress. Not to mention I finally got my hands on Bad Gal Riri’s fur slides and… I’M IN LOVE♥ For this look I opted for all things in blush color. I’m obsessed with this sort of monochromatic pink color.

IMG_4319 (2)

They’re so comfy and you can dress them up or down. Seriously, fur slides are all that right now.

Oh and this choker? It’s another vintage gem that I found in my mom’s accessory box. I absolutely love it. Not to mention it is handmade too.

90’s Glam Grunge

Hello Fabulous Fashionist@! Classic Californian here once again. What a year, in a few months the year will be over. How fast time passes by! Speaking of time, I was going through my mom’s vintage clothing and found this little lace black dress. It was my mom’s in the late 80’s. To put this into perspective, the 80’s decade was over 30 years ago! Crazy right?

But the little black dress is timeless. And it will always be. Call it classic if you may. I paired it with a vintage black choker that was also my mom’s in the late 80’s as it felt decade appropriate. The Doc’s give it a sort of grunge glam appeal.

What other clothing gem will I find in my mother’s closet? Stay tuned.

This lace black dress is vintage Guess.

The Plaid Mini Skirt

Hello Fabulous Fashionista/o!♥ The Classic Californian here again. Thank you for still checking out my blog after a prolonged absence. The past couple of months have been hectic and overwhelmingly busy. And just when I got a little free time, there was always something to do. But now that things have kind of mellowed out and got some things sorted out, I am here to stay 🙂 I have so much planned out for this blog,  I am so excited to share with you all what I’ve got. So stick around.

The plaid mini skirt was very popular in the early – mid 1970’s. Correspondingly, this is one of the eras I find the most inspiration in. From the bell bottoms to the rock and roll scene and beyond, I have incorporated some trends into my personal style.

Here I paired one of my favorite black faux fur (always!) coats with a zipper body suit and heeled boots. {See the bottom for outfit details.}

This coat is not only warm but soft and fuzzy. It’s just so amazing I can wear it with pretty much anything. I wish faux fur coats and vests weren’t so daring. Yes this can be a daring fashion choice, but it’s awesome! Just as long it’s not coming from real animal fur.

For me this combo was great for those kind of warm,  kind of chilly spring days. California weather can be nuts sometimes, but hey I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else! #CaliGirl4Life

Interestingly, there’s a lot of history behind the mini skirt. I will be posting about the history of the mini skirt on Saturday! It’s a pretty fun read, please check it out 🙂

See you then♥
