Hello fabulous fashionist@!♥ The fall season is right around the corner, I can almost taste the pumpkin spice lattes. But here in So Cal that doesn’t always necessarily mean to bulk up with scarfs and jackets. In the meantime, I’m keepin’ it cool with an off-the shoulder dress. Not to mention I finally got my hands on Bad Gal Riri’s fur slides and… I’M IN LOVE♥ For this look I opted for all things in blush color. I’m obsessed with this sort of monochromatic pink color.

They’re so comfy and you can dress them up or down. Seriously, fur slides are all that right now.

Oh and this choker? It’s another vintage gem that I found in my mom’s accessory box. I absolutely love it. Not to mention it is handmade too.

90’s Glam Grunge

Hello Fabulous Fashionist@! Classic Californian here once again. What a year, in a few months the year will be over. How fast time passes by! Speaking of time, I was going through my mom’s vintage clothing and found this little lace black dress. It was my mom’s in the late 80’s. To put this into perspective, the 80’s decade was over 30 years ago! Crazy right?

But the little black dress is timeless. And it will always be. Call it classic if you may. I paired it with a vintage black choker that was also my mom’s in the late 80’s as it felt decade appropriate. The Doc’s give it a sort of grunge glam appeal.

What other clothing gem will I find in my mother’s closet? Stay tuned.

This lace black dress is vintage Guess.

The Plaid Mini Skirt

Hello Fabulous Fashionista/o!♥ The Classic Californian here again. Thank you for still checking out my blog after a prolonged absence. The past couple of months have been hectic and overwhelmingly busy. And just when I got a little free time, there was always something to do. But now that things have kind of mellowed out and got some things sorted out, I am here to stay 🙂 I have so much planned out for this blog,  I am so excited to share with you all what I’ve got. So stick around.

The plaid mini skirt was very popular in the early – mid 1970’s. Correspondingly, this is one of the eras I find the most inspiration in. From the bell bottoms to the rock and roll scene and beyond, I have incorporated some trends into my personal style.

Here I paired one of my favorite black faux fur (always!) coats with a zipper body suit and heeled boots. {See the bottom for outfit details.}

This coat is not only warm but soft and fuzzy. It’s just so amazing I can wear it with pretty much anything. I wish faux fur coats and vests weren’t so daring. Yes this can be a daring fashion choice, but it’s awesome! Just as long it’s not coming from real animal fur.

For me this combo was great for those kind of warm,  kind of chilly spring days. California weather can be nuts sometimes, but hey I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else! #CaliGirl4Life

Interestingly, there’s a lot of history behind the mini skirt. I will be posting about the history of the mini skirt on Saturday! It’s a pretty fun read, please check it out 🙂

See you then♥

90’s Revival

Hello Fabulous Fashionisa/0! The fall is finally here!  pumpkin spice lattes galore and over 90 degree weather. Isn’t the fall lovely in So Cal? Yes! However, I won’t be wearing “fall colors” anytime soon. I do not like categorizing colors with the weather. Or at least when you live somewhere, where the trees and weather don’t always follow with what’s expected, “season appropriate” clothing is irrelevant. Do I have any other style rebels out there? Floral slip dresses in October for the win!

Anyways, I’ve been obsessed with slip dresses lately, as they were huge in the 90’s. It seems like slip dresses are making a comeback and that is amazing, why? Because slip dresses are so versatile, you can dress them up or down for a night out. I however, take a more casual approach.

I really liked this dress because I feel that has a that cool laid back Californian girl look to it. And also the floral print! I paired them with my favorite platformed  white Steve Madden sandals for a complete 90’s look.

See you next Wednesday!

That Hotline Bling

Hello Fabulous Fashionista(o) ! The Classic Californian here. I just want to start off by thanking you all for the amazing support I received last week when I first launched this blog! Much love I hope you all really stick around, I’m so excited to share with yall what I’ve got in store.

Anyways, Betsey Johnson released this purse earlier this year to her spring line. When I saw it I HAD TO get it. I love the creativity evident in her designs. When I saw the purse I was sold at the pink retro headset. You can actually plug in the pink telephone to your smartphone and actually talk on the phone. WOW right??  What I really love about this purse is not the fact that it looks like a retro telephone (that too) but I love the concept of wearable technology. Usually when you think of wearable tech, you think of an Apple watch, but not in this case. Although let’s be real this isn’t fancy technology (but it’s the idea!)

You can totally make a statement with this purse and a phone call or two!

Hello World!

Hello Fabulous fashionista! So nice to meet you, thanks for stopping by! I’d like to formally introduce myself as the Classic Californian. Now let me tell you a bit about myself, not only am I enamored with clothing but I’ve had my eyes glued to fashion magazines ever since I was a little girl. Fast forward 16 years and that “passion for fashion” is still in me. Which is why I have decided to start this blog. So why am I the “Classic Californian“? …Good question.

I’m “Classic” because I’m inspired by the fashion, culture and music of the past century. Coco Chanel, Elizabeth Taylor and the 60’s just to name a few. Yet some of these fashion icons and their style continue to be prevalent in the fashion world. Take Audrey Hepburn for example. Her elegance, style and grace is timeless. Call that classic if you may. Fashion fads come and go but there are styles that deserve to be classic. Take any styles from any decade and guess what? You can wear that today! How? Stick around and I’ll show you how they could be worn today with a modern twist. That is just proof that the ever-changing fashion world is consistently bringing back fashion fads and styles. But some fads are best left in their respected time periods (ahem, 80’s crazy neon dresses and tutus? Yep that. )

I’m “Californian” because I’m a sun kissed California girl. I love my home state and I can’t imagine anywhere that comes close to the west coast. [insert ‘California Gurls’ by Katy Perry here] I appreciate the culture, fashion, beaches and tons of famous land marks you can only find here! I want to show you all about it!

Fashion and style are two different things. Fashion is bought however, style is something you posses. No amount of luxury fashion brands will give you style if you don’t make it your own.

Thank you for checking out my page, make sure to check my site every Wednesday for more!

See you Wednesday!
